How the Pawls Work to Move the Apron | Engels Coach Shop
The speed that the manure is fed into the beater determines how heavy it is applied to the field. This intricate right side mechanism works perfect, now that is is straightened out again. It was a bit of a puzzle, but is working like new. Building and restoring horse drawn vehicles is pretty fun. Thanks for coming along!

All the Original Irons are Back on the Wagon! | Engels Coach Shop

Building and restoring horse drawn vehicles all bring unique challenges. This one was to preserve the rusty irons and make it look 100 years old. Reconstructing with old wood and irons is more difficult than using new materials, but that's what the owner desired. It's been quite the project. Thanks for coming along! And we thought the people of days gone by were stupid! This is quite an ingenious design. I suspect that the pickman is made of wood so that it acts as a kind of 'fuse', so if something in the machinery seizes up, the pickman will break and prevent serious damage to the rest of the wagon.
